How to know if you have prostate issues
Men over 50 and those with a history of prostate cancer in their family should be screened regularly by their doctor. A simple PSA blood test can detect an over-inflated prostate. It can also indicate whether there is a high risk of cancer or other medical problems which may require treatment.
If you believe that your doctor has diagnosed you with a prostate condition, they will ask about your symptoms. Tell them how long they have been going on. They will ask if you experience any pain or burning when you urinate. Also, if you’ve noticed changes in your urine. They may recommend a digital rectal exam (DRE), where a gloved and lubricated finger is placed on the prostate from inside your rectum. This takes about 10-15 seconds.
Symptoms of Prostate Problems
The prostate, a walnut-sized organ, is located in the lower tract of the urinary system. It can be found on the front or back of penis. The prostate is responsible for producing the semen that is used to produce sperm. The most common prostate problem is benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), which occurs when the prostate enlarges and interferes with urine flow. Other symptoms of BPH include painful urination. A weak flow of urine and hesitancy. Fecal incontinence is another symptom of BPH. The prostate can cause a more serious symptom, such as not being able urinate. This is a medical crisis.
Medicine for Prostate Problems
There are several different medicines available to help treat prostate problems. They can be liquids or pills, or tablets or liquids in a suppository. The liquid is then passed into the bladder through your penis. Saw palmetto is a common medication. It can be purchased in liquid extract or as a herbal supplement. These medications may be used in combination or alone, depending upon your doctor’s recommendation.
Surgery for Prostate Disorders
If lifestyle changes or medicines do not improve symptoms, surgery may be an alternative. The surgery could be performed by your GP at their office or by an urologist at the hospital. Your doctor will explain to you the pros and con of each surgery type so that you can decide which is best for your needs. They will explain to you any other options such as regular checkups by your GP or a urologist.
The good news about BPH is that it’s not a cancer sign. This doesn’t mean that they can be ignored. It’s important to keep up with your regular visits to the GP, as well as having your PSA and DRE tests. These can be the best way of detecting cancer or other conditions before they become serious. If the disease is caught early, treatments can save lives. This is especially true of prostate carcinoma, which can be treated if caught before it progresses.
